My attempts at panning failed miserably. This was the best I got. Started out trying to get cars but it was too bright hence decided to wait till late afternoon and try to capture the dogs chasing a ball!

LOL..I tried it on an ostrich today but ended up deleting the photo - as we were driving back from the Free State. Trust me..your attempt is much better than mine was :)
@orangecrush I was pushed to do panning a few weeks ago. My first attempt yielded this shot http://365project.org/salza/365/2012-08-21, I was hoping to recreate something similar but nearly 100 shots later this is the best I could offer!
None of my dog ones came out this time. Too much body motion that blurs. This does give a great sense of how fast they might be. And looked at your Exif. .5 sec is a long time to hold steady while moving (if that makes sense). Looks great for such a long exposure. :)
