On arrival in Beaufort West, Central Karoo we saw snow on the mountains. I have never been so cold as I was that night. There was also a very strong wind and a fair amount of rain. The houses in South Africa are built more to keep the summer heat out than keep the warmth in during winter months!
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
@pamknowler The temperature was 4 degrees Celsius when I took this shot but the wind chill must have been well below zero and the wind was nearing gale force!
A gorgeous composition - I love the deep cold blue of the mountains and the strong lines of the forground and vegetation rising gradually to meet the mountains - The depth of the sky emphasises the size and strength of the vista.
I really don't think of Africa as being cold-- so it sounds funny as if a contradiction of terms- African winter. But this shot certainly conveys a cold feeling. Time to get out some long-johns!
