Lovely shot, beautiful plant but I don't think it looks like a pig's ear. hehe

@tremerryn @olivetreeann The name is due to the shape of the leaf of the plant. I shall endeavor to get a picture that shows the leaves.

lovely hanging flowers - they seem to be speaking to the camera

The muted hues are just awesome, but the name does not do it justice!!

Such a pretty little plant - I was really surprised to find, when I googled it, that I have some growing - then I realised that this is a damn good close up - or my pitiful little specimen is grossly undersized - I prefer to think you are a macro artist!

@kittikat Thank you for your kind words! I would say these flowers are about 2cm long. The stalk is at least 50cm long! The plant is in a pot but has definitely out grown it and needs to get planted out.

I've seen these interesting flowers, but did not know their name. Wonderful capture. Love the colors.

is this native to south africa? i don't think i've ever seen anything like that around here. or maybe i don't look hard enough.

sally, thank you for your kind encouragement and for posting my 'afternoon delight' photo on the 'fav' discussion thread. you are such a sweet person and i am glad that you are one of my close friends here in 365; you make my life easier around here. again, thank you.

@summerfield It is indigenous to South Africa. It grows easily and propagates by just planting a leaf in soil! Here is a link with more info if you interested: http://www.plantzafrica.com/frames/plantsfram.htm

Only a pleasure regards your "afternoon delight", I love it and would happily hang a print of it on my wall!

@salza - then i shall have one printed for you (when I get around to it at summer's end). thank you again.
