Panning..... or not by salza

Panning..... or not

My get pushed challenge from Joan Robillard @joansmor - I am challenging you to take a action picture where the subject is in focus as you follow it and the background blurs (like following a moving car).

Not nearly as sharp as I would like it to be. I do find panning rather difficult!
@joansmor First attempt, I would have liked it to be a tad sharper. Will hopefully get a chance to get out into some traffic later this week.

Great attempt at meeting the challenge.

I don't just find it difficult, I find it almost impossible! You've done a great job Sally.

Well, I sure like this shot! :-) I think you did a great job on it.

I love how you captured the motion, Sally.

Ah man, yeah, panning. That's just not easy at all. I've yet to get a good one. You know what I did for practice though? I found a busy street, and with a lot of cars passing, and then I just keep shooting cars until I had a sort of decent one... some people even wave and honk

It's tricky and I can't do it that well with my point and shoot so this looks good to me!

Panning is hard -- I think you've done well with it.
May 7th, 2014
Well done!

Panning is so challenging! You have captured great motion blur here, well done

Great work on panning the ears. Dogs are really difficult to pan. Not only is their movement not predictable but they have four legs.

Beautiful action capture. Love the sense of motion in this shot.

Difficult challenge! But I think you did very well for a first attempt!

Great shot.

easier to pan shot a car or bicyclist rather than an animal or person running. their feet inevitably blur but you can get a clear shot of the upper part of the body. it takes a lot of practice. which reminds me, i haven't done any panning shot in a while. i should install myself in front of my building and spook (or spite) the passing motorists. some of them would slow down thinking my camera's monitoring their speed. hehehe.
