Night Sky by salza

Night Sky

My get pushed challenge from kali @kali66 - I wonder if you have ever tried to do any astrophotography, I have been having a lot of fun with it and I think you probably live in an ideal place to try it, as long as you get a fine night this week

Taken from my garden, testing out some camera settings. Planning to go out and try this again but weather might put a spanner in the works. There's some light cloud in this capture and we have overcast conditions forecast for the next few nights.
@kali an experiment testing the camera settings for the astrophotography challenge. Not sure if I will get another chance to shoot stars as cloudy weather is forecast for the next few days.

Super to be able to see these stars so clearly! I see its around 10pm. I'll have to go outside and see if I can do this but we do have bright street lights which ruin the opportunity! fa

@maggiemae we have a streetlight right outside plus there are some exterior lights on neighbouring houses. Give it a go, one of the tutorials that I have watched says that if you can see stars with the naked eye you should be able to photograph them.

@summerfield Vikki, I just set the camera into full manual mode, turn off auto focus and set lens to infinity. I didn't even look through the view finder but just pointed the camera towards the sky and pressed the shutter.

I was on my way to a night photography workshop when the car was hit so I'm envious you figured out how to do this!! I will have to try it on my own- I do have a book and have looked at a few things on youtube. You did a great job here!
November 3rd, 2016
I've tried this once or twice without much success. Well done Sally :)

The contrast of the trees and sky is great.
