Barn Owl

A rescue barn owl - about 5 months old - who comes for regular feeding, he flies into the house and roosts on the shower door.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond @judithdeacon not my shower, but that of a friend who rehabilitates wildlife. The black-shouldered kite went to her and that was when I got the picture of this owl. The last time I visited the owl had gone out and wasn't around.

That is really quite funny- but so great that he's able to move freely from his natural habitat to the home and feel comfortable in both places. I bet your friend does not have any problems with mice! Beautiful bird!

@gooner46 Chris, the bird arrived as a tiny newly hatched bird. Has been carefully fed and raised to avoid human imprinting. Once old enough to fly, put into a large enclosure where they can fly around to their hearts content. Once it's ascertained that they can hunt the cage is left open and they can come and go at will. This particular barn owl has decided that my friend's house is where he wants to be. Sometimes he is goes for a few days.

A splendid bird... it's wonderful to read how he's been reared to 'be his own bird' whilst safekeeping his avian heritage.
