My challenge partner Caryn (@cmc1200) challenged the following: 'I would like to challenge you to a street photography shot. It can be anything, but perhaps you might like to try this week's Street Photography Now challenge: Take pictures where you're not comfortable, where you feel exposed, threatened, or morally on the wrong side.'
This is my awnser to the challenge - a street shot taken in the village on a busy Saturday morning. Just being on the street with my camera is way out of my comfort zone!
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
Great shot Sally. I love the composition of this - and feel your intimidation. I would feel exactly the same. And truthfully I would love to do the get pushed challenge, but fear this exact challenge - I just don't see street scenes much. You've done a great job with this one.
@louiesphotos Thanks Louie, I wasn't sure about doing the get pushed challenges at first. I have faced most of my biggest fears in doing a portrait, a self portrait and now street photography so I almost feel I'm ready for anything!
I know exactly what you mean too - I like to feel anonymous on the street with very little or no attention drawn to myself. I think you did marvelously considering the numbers of peeps in front of you. It certainly catches the Sat morning, bustling mood!
Wonderful - I had a great time looking at the people. So different from my place! Taking street shots can be frustrating but it is great when they work out.
Street photos and self portraits: the two things I simply don't do, and why I wasn't up for the get pushed challenge. Respect to you for taking this photo, it's a good one.
Great shot Sally. I totally sympathise with your intimidation. I find it helps to pretend to take shots of something other than people...like the buildings, trees, water hydrants...and then just snap the peeps as I go.
@bruni Sorry I somehow managed to delete your second post! If possible I would prefer another challenge. I have done a single person on the street as well ( http://365project.org/salza/365/2012-08-26)
Sally no problem..I challenge to a "birds eye view"
I just went into my garden and tried to fool my camera by shaking it ever so slightly while zooming in but it didn't work. have to find another to do it..I'm not giving up yet.
