I have been asked that this picture be put forward to be used on a billboard type poster advertising the Tulbagh Valley (where I live). I have no idea how one handles this kind of request, what sort of charge/fee to ask. One is not being greedy but I don't think I just want to give it for nothing, Any advice?
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.

Just put a reply on the notice board before I saw this. Stunning shot with fabulous reflections!! Congrats on the recognition!! As I said do not sell yourself short. If they want your shot for an advert then they should pay the going price. Are there any Professional photographers in your area who you could ask - just to get a feel for what they would expect. Fav!!
What a great image, I can sure understand they would like to use it for advertising. Sorry I can't help you with the fee to ask, I always find it hard to put a price on my photo's, I did sell single-print rights for a couple of photo's recently but that's quite different to your situation.
Stunning shot - well worth the request for it to be used on a billboard. One piece of advice I was given about selling photos is that if the company who want to use it will be printing it repeatedly and it would be used numerous times then it is worth a lot more.
Fabulous shot and the reflection is so sharp. Can't help you with the asking price for this though. I have sold a few of my photos at exhibitions we have had with our photo club, but that is slightly different. I would ask around in your area with photographers and advertising companies and get a feel for the asking price. Good luck and well done.

Great image - I can understand why they want it. As to the price, I have no experience, but I agree the it should not be just given away. It also depends on who wants to use it and how well they are financed. Personally I would think in the line of what it would cost yourself to make an enlargement and frame it, or make a large canvas of this image, and charge that price - it would be in the region of R1000 for a decent size image to hang on your wall.
