Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
I like the way the stranger is smiling at the passerby, but think that the cropped one is better, as there are plenty of distractions in this one, and not enough focus on the man himself :) (but, then what do I know ?!?!?!)
I prefer this one because there is so much happening and because it gives a focus to what "the stranger" is looking at - and squinting against the sun;)
I like that there's some space between people. Maybe adding more background space would help it more so it doesn't feel tight. (I feel that the man walking with the cart needs more room above him) I love the smile on the guy's face though. That really is the best part, the expression.
I like the shot overall, especially because it explains the man's view and expression. I agree, though, that there are too many distractions...which is why, in my opinion, B&W works so good for these street shots: it really minimizes the distractions and makes it easier to make them darker (or lighter) with burning (or dodging)...but great for a first effort...really!
I agree with @lynnilou that I like seeing what (or should I say who) the stranger is smiling at but there is an awful lot going on in this shot which is a bit distracting.
I like seeing what he is smiling at - I think I would have cropped out the red behind his seat, which would have reduced the colours to the blue and yellow and made it into an encounter between two people. I also put most of my street shots into b&w to reduce distractions, but it doesn't always work better that way
