For my get pushed challenge from Wouter - I'd like to challenge you to take a picture that says something about your home, either your actual home or maybe your hometown/area.
This is a picture of the valley I live in. This is the view I have when I walk the dogs. Some of the village can be seen.
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
@summerfield on the right hand side there is a peak that is know locally as 'Oom Piet se neus' (uncle Peter's nose) or Man in the Mountain. I think I should make an effort to get a picture of it that portrays him nicely. Maybe I could use it for my rural/urban shot..... mmm now you've got me thinking!
@anazad511 it was wheat, if I remember correctly. It was harvested about a month ago. We are going into our hot dry season and the colour goes from green to brown almost overnight!
Such a fantastic capture! Some of my family and I just went on a short holiday to Cape Town... it was my first time that side of the country! We didn't go as high as Tulbagh, but if Tulbagh is anything like the other towns in the area we drove through, it must be gorgeous! (I completely lost my heart to Montagu!) Western Cape is definitely a lot greener (physically) than the Eastern Cape... here we have a lot of Fynbos, and the mountains this side look brown from a distance, in the Western Cape mountains from afar of look green! It's so beautiful!
@monkeykid Therese, Montagu is very pretty. We has considered moving there but landed up in Tulbagh! Indeed our mountains are rather beautiful and they do go through a brown phase starting around the of end November. We are going into our fire risk time and one keeps an eye open for any sign of smoke!
