Pintailed Whydah by salza

Pintailed Whydah

A male Pintailed Whydah. When not breeding they do not have the long tail feathers. These birds despite being rather small are quite bossy and will chase other bigger birds away from the seeds that we put out for them all!

I love a photo like this...a bird in this case that I never heard of! Africa's big animals are so dramatic, a small bird can understandably be overlooked! Glad you photographed him!

Fabulous bokeh but unfortunately, for me, the bird is lost in all the background.

Great capture. I'm sure you also know that they use other birds as hosts to incubate their eggs and raise their chicks?

@ericdibosco in fact I didn't know that! I can understand it though since they are ready quite arrogant little birds.
