@steeler I wonder if the light pollution affects how you can capture the moon. I usually take my shots handheld in the garden with a shutter speed of 1/125 to 1/250 and aperture of around f/7 and then crop to hell and gone! I'm sure you have a bigger zoom than I have since I only have my 16-300mm lens. I haven't really found a difference when using a tripod.

gorgeous! i was shooting at the moon last night, but it wasn't doing anything for me. on live view it looks great, but the actual shots were, well, all shot!
