Patch burning by samae

Patch burning

Always would see signs along the highway saying "don't drive into the smoke". Always wondered what that meant. Well, on Saturday we got a good lesson as everywhere we went on our "photoshopping" drive we saw what is called Patch Burning. Each year fire is used to burn a different portion of the pasture. Livestock will be attracted to the burnt areas and spend time grazing there. Looks scary to me.

Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate your time, comments and favs.

Very much like the layers and nonchalance.

The smoke could almost pass for layers of fog here

Did make for an interesting picture though - would think the smoke would bother the cows but they seem use to it.

Wow - they burn heather around these parts to refresh it - similar I guess but never seen livestock so near to it. Fabulous capture. Thank you for the explanation.

Super capture...That pop of color from the fire is something...nice clarity.

Very interesting, I didn't think they would let the animals go there while there still is a fire.

Nice image. This reminds me of a pic you would see in a school book, of something that might be in the 1800's. Great feel.
