It's graduation time!

Best viewed in large :o)

Manchester has got lots of students. When I say lots, I mean LOTS - about 90,000 of them. Apparently Manchester University is now the biggest University in the UK, and then there's Manchester Metropolitan University, and Salford University too. At the moment it's graduation season, when the University area is full of people in gowns, and their proud parents .. the end of year celebrations before everything goes very quiet over the summer!

Incidentally , the reason I went in to Manchester today was to see an exhibition called ExtInked. To mark the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth a couple of years ago, one hundred people volunteered to be tattooed with a drawing of one of the most rare and endangered species in Britain. The artist who drew the tattoos is a friend of a friend of mine - http://www.extinked.org.uk/
Now there'sa coincidence! I was just thinking about the use of selective colour with sepia today. You've made it work well here - those little bits of colour take the eye along the shot nicely.

@dulciknit Thanks - the original looked a bit too 'busy' but b&w wasn't quite enough - I thought the sepia made it a warmer shot

@eosin Thank you - I think my favourite part is the lad in the background who looks like he's getting a 'talking to' by his folks!

@moominmomma Thanks - I originally moved to Manchester 20 years ago to do post-grad studies - didn't stick with them very long, though!!

@sarahhorsfall I like that the lad crossing the road with his Mum and Dad looks exactly like they would do if their faces were merged together.

@eosin Well spotted, I hadn't noticed that :o)
