Blessed Elixir of Life

With yesterday being a snow day, it feels far too much like a Monday!

I decided pouring coffee would be a good subject for the slow shutter speed challenge, except that the pour (and the coffee in the cup) looked much better at a faster speed - 1/200s. I learned something in the attempt, anyway, and I guess I'll have to come up with a different slow shutter speed subject!

(And in case you're wondering why it's so light, I always put the milk in the cup before I pour the coffee - saves having to wash a spoon!)
Love this! Fav. I particularly like how the coffee seems to be appearing from thin air. I wonder if the composition wouldn't be even stronger if you cropped or cloned out the tiny piece of coffee pot?

@kph129 I spent ages trying different crops to get that coffee pot out - I couldn't do it and still have the "arc" of the pour in there. This was my first ever attempt to catch something like this, so now I know to leave a bit more room between the pot and the mug! It also occurred to me after the fact that the handle would look better on the right, but I'm a lefty so I set it up the way I hold the mug. Lots of lessons. :)

Love this - nicely captured! And the title is so very true!

@linnypinny Thank you! My younger daughter called me "mom-bee" as a toddler, and so now I joke that in the mornings I'm "mom-bee" before my coffee - a mom/zombie. Not looking for brains, just caffeine! :)
