I couldn't settle on boy bedding when we were setting up Matthew's nursery. It seemed like I had to pick between sports, jungle, or transportation, and I just wanted something that was boyish but not locked into an interest I didn't even know if he'd have.
So I made him a quilt. Just a really basic one, with 5" squares of a few different fabrics. (By the time I finished, I'd also made a pleated crib skirt and matching valances...and then, because hormones, a matching nursing pillow cover. This is what happens when you let a creative pregnant woman loose in the fabric store.)
He's never used it in the crib, but I'm sure it won't be too much longer before he's in a toddler bed. And even though it won't be big enough for him to take to college or anything, it will definitely last for a while!
