I learnt something very interesting about (UK but maybe SA too?) hedgehogs yesterday. On the radio they were saying that as well as acting as protection the spines act as shock absorbers. Apparently hedgehogs can climb up trees very well, but not down. The way they dismount is to roll up and drop off. The angled spines absorb the fall and hedgehog wonders off happily.
Like that this is a picture of an animal, but not obviously so!
Well found Sylvia, you don't seem to see many around these days. Lovely capture. Thank you for my FAV on the reflection picture, could you press the FAV button again for me. Thanks.
@woodlandsphotog No this is the first time I saw it here. You do get them here but I think with dogs they do not come near the house. I went outside and saw it and could only take this photo with a cell phone. When I arrived with my Canon, it left.
@gijsje Thanks Bep. he is well. I take him to a place for Alzheimers on a daily basis to get used to the surrounding and people. I do not take him everyday, just when I need to go somewhere. He only stay there for a few hours at a time.
@sdutoit Thanks. I was interested too.
Great shot of the animal we call : an `` Egel``. My wife collect old wood branches in our garden for them nesting but I never have see one.
Nice to be gifted with a sighting. We don't have them here but a 3yr old brown bear was caught a block or two away. I think that I prefer to only find a hedgehog near. It is thought that the bear was kicked out and in search of new territory. Very glad that your husband is well and that you have some relief and assistance when you need.
@shesnapped Ashley sorry to disappoint you. I tried to meet the challenge this week, We had rain again last night and it is still cloudy. The weather was like this the whole week. I might get a chance tonight. I cannot believe this. We had the worst drought in many years and now it is cloudy and rain. I would love to take a photo of the night sky and it is on my to do list.
@sdutoit Sylvia! No disappointment here!!! If it's raining, then it's raining! You still have until Sunday - I can change my challenge to "take a photo of the rain"! :-)
@shesnapped Ha ha this is no lie....There was bright sunshine this morning, Got camera out of the bag....looked out of the window now when I saw it was becoming rather dark inside....clouds and lots of them. This unusual weather for this time of the year. No rain during the summer and now all of a sudden this weather. I will take a night sky photo and make sure I send a proof! Looking at the Spanish Grand Prix and heard Lewis Hamilton saying he does not know what is going on with the weather..... Seems they also have clouds.

When you do get a night sky shot, be sure to tag me in it, ok?
