With this photo I tried to show the way life is. Both hands registered to vote, but only one had the opportunity to do so.
We went to vote in the elections at seven this morning. The weather is awful today. Strong wind, clouds and a temp of 8 degrees C. (feeling like 2 degrees)
The hands show the ability and inability very well. So sorry that he is unable to vote - it is another everyday, ordinary tasks that we, the healthy, take for granted. We need to count our blessings while we can because circumstances can change our own abilities so fast!
So sorry that even the weather is miserable - that just compounds your troubles!
photos tell such a story. thank you so much for sharing this with us. voting is so, so important - i can only hope it makes some difference in my own country this year . . . seems hope is all we have left now.
A very poignant photo Sylvia, you have to have your hand marked too, I did hear that but this is the first time I have seen the voting mark. Glad you found the time & energy to go & vote, it is a great privelidge.
@sdutoit we just take our voting papers although you don't even need those, just say your name & address & you are given a voting slip & after voting just leave. No mark or anything like that. Quite often people don't even bother which I think is very bad considering the efforts that were taken long ago to give women the vote. There was a much bigger turn out in the EU referendum recently as feelings were very high.
So sorry that even the weather is miserable - that just compounds your troubles!
What are people voting for in South Africa? For or against Zuma?
Interesting that they mark your hands to show you have voted...never seen anything like that before. FAV.
