Went to Langebaan Yacht Club for brunch this morning, so I took the opportunity to try shooting the shipwreck again for some textures. Despite taking my spray bottle I didn't manage Annie-Sue's suggestions for improving last shot. Sun was in wrong direction, and also wind blowing a gale towards me meant I was unable to spray any droplets on the shipwreck. So I moved to a different location and showed a little of the horizon to try and "tell the story"
I love rust! This has such wonderful texture and colour I love it. My nephew lives in Langabaan and we were there a couple of years ago but I totally missed this amazing wreck.
@judithdeacon Thanks Judith. This wreck is at the Langebaan Yacht Club. You can see the entire ship in my post on 19th Feb. This detail was taken from the stern looking in the same direction as the post of the 19th
@narayani Thanks for that comment, Narayani. Perhaps I will crop away the sea and see if I prefer it. Must admit I wanted to put the texture into context, but I'm not all that happy with this result
Great texture and color in the rotting wreck. I want to crop away everything to the left of the greeny orange black part and some of the horizontal part on the bottom, too. No sea. It doesn't need context. It needs focus.
@meotzi Thanks so much for the comment. Just what narayani said too. Going back there on Tuesday for Hubby's birthday lunch, so maybe I can reshoot with focus only on the rusty texture (if the tide is right and I can get close enough)
"The old girl was about due for a bit of loving care, and so was I after all our years at sea together, but . . ."
(Great rendering of all those lovely tones, by the way)
