Pelicans at Bokkom Laan seemed to respond to my gentle calls and soft whistles ... they turned and looked at me and started coming towards me. I felt quite bad that I didn't have any fish for them
@eevaliisa@narayani Thanks Eevaliisa & Narayani. Indeed they did seem very interested, which is why I felt so guilty calling them when I didn't have any fish to give them. Next time I know they respond, so I'd better have something
@chamoisp Thanks ChamoisP. I think we just have Great White Pelicans here, although I must admit, these ones don't always look very white. Perhaps also my White Balance is a bit off. These were shot in the shade of a building on a day with patches of fog/heavy cloud, and intermittent sunshine, so it could've thrown the automatic WB off and made the pelicans look more pinkish?
@seacreature Sorry Desi - I didn't realise you were based in South Africa - was comparing them to the ones I usually see in Australia. Colouring is quite different - glad to have my geography enlarged thank you :)
@chamoisp That's what's so fascinating having 365 friends all over the world. You get to see plants and animals and scenes that you wouldn't otherwise see as a tourist to that country. I love seeing everyone the things other people take for granted as normal where they live
@seacreature Actually it's been one of the biggest blessings of starting this project. I now stop and find value in things I wouldn't have even have given a 2nd thought to before. There is beauty all around us, if only we stop long enough to take it in.
