I have just remembered this photo taken on Friday afternoon, and downloaded it from my camera. We had a great day. Dad seemed so well I got him up in the wheelchair for an hour or more. He wanted to shave off the beard that had grown during his 3 weeks in hospital. I was going to cut his hair the next day. It looked like he was going to recover. But then he fell that night, and he's been sinking rapidly ever since until now he can't turn on his own, and he doesn't open his eyes. His few words are a whisper, and he seems to have a problem swallowing. I regret not having taken more photos to get something better while I could

Thank you all for the thoughts and wishes. My Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning. I am so grateful for this week he had at home with us. As Narayani mentioned, it is a special and powerful time. His last words to me at 10pm last night when I went to check his nappy and pull the blanket over him, were "Thank you for everything. I love you"
