.... some days are stones! (And some days are diamonds too)

Occasionally I get visitors from hell and today must have been the worst I've seen. They had two small children who must have been allowed to have lots of sticky something to spill - the whole floor was sticky, and the kitchen counter tops were stained with sticky pink stuff that required bleach to take the pink away. This is just a small sample of the mess in the kitchen There were dirty plates with food and barbeque lamb bones, left in the lounge. Dirty coffee cups in the bedrooms, and even dirty pots packed back in the cupboards - probably because they ran out of space on the counter tops for all the stuff they never washed. I can't imagine anybody living like that. No wonder they left a day early. They had used every mug, plate, and pot, and couldn't walk on the floors any more. But maybe it is actually that some days are diamonds because I got a last minute booking for this afternoon, so managed to clean up and get ready to earn more income! But tonight I am totally exhausted
Times like this when you wonder why you ever considered doing it. But then you remember that this seldom happens - tough at times to keep things in perspective.
Very glad you got the extra booking.

@cottiac You are so right - it seldom happens. I think most people are pretty decent. The odd thing goes missing or gets broken, but I doubt it is deliberate theft or damage. And yes, the extra booking makes up for the mess

I don't believe that people do this. But it must be true. I'm glad too, that you got the extra booking. Have a great weekend.

@mona65 Thanks Mona. I will. Fortunately it is very unusual to find it left in such a mess.

My first thought was I can't believe that! But I guess I do believe it. In my younger years I used to be a waitress and I would be amazed at the "destruction" people would leave
behind. Hope your next booking is much less stressful.

Oh no!! Friends of mine who have a short term rental unit have found the best visitors are through Airbnb because you can write a review about them so they have to be accountable.

it would be nice if you could flag up people like this for other hosts to be aware of!

@anniesue I was thinking about this today, and realised that although it seemed really bad when I walked in, at least it was just a matter of cleaning up .... there wasn't any destruction, malicious damage, or theft so I have to look at the bright side of it
