I'll Walk Beside You

My Get Pushed Challenge for this week from Margo Sayer:

This is what Margo said:- "I've been through all your photos to get an idea of what you haven't done. I suggest that you take a shot that illustrates a song title. I wondered...and this a suggestion and no more...if perhaps you'd like to choose something that your father liked, or one that was special to your parents. This may be a suggestion too far and I make it as you mentioned how your mother likes being part of your 365 project."

So here is my take on it. Especially in the last months before he died, my Dad was asking me to find this song, I'll walk beside you" on the internet for him to listen to again. As he has now passed away and not here to literally walk beside my mother any longer, I scanned one of their wedding photos to pick up an image of my Dad to walk beside my mother. It has been an amazing challenge to get my mother's pose into something that could work with the image I had of Dad. I have never used Gimp before to add people into a pic so it has been a whole new learning curve for me. It could do with some polishing up so he doesn't look quite so pasted in - but for a first time ever I'm reasonably happy with what I have learned so far

I think you've done incredibly well - I would have really struggled. Very touching narrative too.

@cottiac @lsquared @anniesue @mcsiegle @narayani Thank you all for the positive feedback. I will certainly attempt to develop new skills, Annie-Sue and have already committed to doing a presentation at the local camera club, so I think I will build on this to show members who can't afford Photoshop some basics I've learned about Gimp

This is impressive, the concept and the realisation of it. IMHO you've done a cracking job and I can't begin to imagine how tricky this must have been. I very much enjoyed listening to Paul Robeson again, thank you the link. Good luck with your presentation to your local camera club.

@s4sayer Thank you so much, Margo. Your comments are much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed Paul Robeson again. He has such a lovely rich deep voice, doesn't he.
