Loads of demands on my time this past week meant I was working until past midnight most nights just trying to keep up - so no photos. And then this weekend Gail needed me to sit in her office again just to keep it open for her. Her father in law very ill in ICU so she needed to be able to go and visit. Took Hattie with me and when it was quiet this afternoon I put her in front of an open doorway to experiment with light differential by exposing for her face and letting the shadows behind her look after themselves.
Sorry to hear about your friend's father in law, (and how busy you've been!) but great light. So good how the background has just disappeared into darkness.
@narayani Thank you. At the moment I just feel like putting myself on this huge self development ... I feel like the way I am going to improve and become more than just a snapshot photographer without buying any new gear, is to start trying to understand light and shadow. Never had any form of art training, so now I have to try and internalise the basics by reading and then trying things out.
