Broken Jetties and Reflections by seacreature

Broken Jetties and Reflections

Walking dogs early this morning - loved the calmness and quietness to just think and reflect .... a few years ago this jetty, and most of the other jetties were all well maintained and in a good state of repair. But now they seem to be falling apart and clearly no longer used. I wondered if it is a lack of fish and therefore money, or if the way of life in this fishing village is changing? Perhaps the younger folk are going off to the cities to find work, or working on the big fishing trawlers and fish factory instead of maintaining the old traditions of subsistence fishing?
Great image. Love the light.

What a shame - but lovely image.

@sarasotab Thank you Robert. It was quite early in the morning and I was enjoying the lovely light for that brief while.
@anniesue Now there's a good idea, Annie-Sue. Will have to try and speak to some of the local fishermen who do still fish there. However there is a language problem in that they are all Afrikaans speaking, and my Afrikaans is not very good at all. But worth a try, all the same.
@narayani Thank you Narayani. It is a shame to see so many of the old jetties becoming derelict
