My mother was discharged from hospital at really short notice (1 stressful day spent trying to place her in a frail care facility). I found a place at King's Cross a few minutes drive from my home. It is not great - the room she shares with another lady is really, really tiny, but at least she is now close for me to visit easily. Still hoping she might improve enough for me to bring her home again one day, but for now she needs 24 hour care, with blood glucose monitoring 3 times a day, and insulin injections with the dosage calculated according to the blood sugar reading. And she needs bed baths and diaper changes. I could do it at home if I had help and someone to relieve me at times, but much as I hate having taken her to a frail care, it is what she wanted, and I can't do this all on my own.
It is tough when our Mums need our help... but sounds like she is in the best place and perhaps something will come up that she can have her own room... lets hope you see an improvement soon..
That is wonderful that you found a place so close to home and that your mum wants to be there! She is looking much better. 24 hour care is not something you can do at home Desi - especially when you are still working!!
