Another unfinished piece being created by my mother - but this is different because this is what she was working on right up until the very end in the frail care when her eyesight was no longer good enough, nor her fingers nimble enough, for tapestry, embroidery and other fine crafts. I had kept her busy and occupied supplying her with wool for crochet, selecting light colours to make it easier for her to see. My sister in law, Anne, and I will complete this together, and it will be given to baby Cleo, my mother's first great-grandchild born just a month before she passed away, but of whom she was so proud. She had knitted some baby jackets which I posted to USA, and baby Cleo was baptised in one of them, so I know that she would want Cleo to have this final piece of work.
This child blanket and the tapestry, your mother's WIPs (works in progress) are a testament to the integrity of her life, particularly in using her skill to make original items for those whom she cared about. A great testament to giving as much...and more to those she loved. May she rest in peace.
