In my home every year is the year of the dog. These are our two terrorists (as opposed to Terriers), Max (the big black one) and Charlie. Now that their food and home needs have been met since coming to live with us, their favourite things are going for walks, and swimming. In fact swimming has been a big part of their rehabilitation in our home, especially for Charlie who was the more psychologically damaged of the two. And Charlie is the one who has become a real otter. Today he was even diving down about 20cm to fetch the hosepipe.
@jesika2 Yes they did have a bad start. They had been abused and then abandoned. I took them from the rescue centre, unseen, as I said I would take the most needy dog that nobody else wanted. So they sent Max and Charlie. It was tough at first, and at times I just sobbed my heart out and wanted to give up - but I knew that I couldn't give up on them when they were just learning to trust again, and just learning how to be dogs. Now they are lovely dogs.
How wonderful! I am so disappointed Tootsie won't swim...my other dog, Dillon, couldn't be kept out of the water. Glad to see you have some water in the pool still
@narayani Thanks Narayani. Yes some dogs just don't like it. My little Holly loves swimming in the river or sea because then she can keep some ground where her paws can reach - but hate's the swimming pool. We are filling the pool with salty and water. It turns green almost instantly (not like algae green, but like river green), so I only do it late in the evening and then shock treat it with chlorine and also acid. By morning the pool looks blue and in a couple of days of chlorinating it is sparkling again.
