I decided I needed something different today, so I carefully wrapped the court jester in a tea towel and took him to the office to shoot. I love this little jug and it has many happy childhood memories of Granny's dinner table - she used this jug for mint sauce when we had lamb roast. I think he is quite photogenic, so now I just need to figure out a few appropriate props for him, and maybe place him on an embroidered cloth, perhaps with a few sprigs of fresh mint
He has the air of a Court Jester. I’ve never seen one quite like this. R's mother used to collect Toby Jugs which I admired. Although she left them to me, I willingly didn’t take possession of them until R's father died. R's daughter will be next recipient.
@ludwigsdiana Thank you so much. Natural window lighting, but I did try turning him around at right angles to the window in order to try and make the light less "flat"
@s4sayer I hope R's daughter will enjoy and appreciate them. I am in two minds about these kinds of items. I have too much clutter in my house, but yet there are some things that I don't want to just send to the charity shop either.
@777margo Yes I do agree. I am glad he's not grotesque, although I do believe some of the grotesque ones are very valuable. Probably because generations like me didn't want to keep them so they are quite rare now???
@beckyk365 Yes you are so right. It is often the simple things that have the best memories. I am one of the lucky ones to have had a wonderfully happy childhood on which I can look back with so much fondness
@seacreature I thought I had posted it here but apparently not. Must have been that other website we used to be on. And I can't find it in my files, either. I'll keep looking.
