Went to a presentation arranged by Canon this morning, at the Old Biscuit Mill near Cape Town. The speaker was a photo journalist who does street photography whenever he is not covering wars in Libya and stuff like that. He spoke about candid portraiture as a sub genre of street photography, and I suddenly realised that is what I love, so motivated and inspired I braved up and asked a number of perfect strangers if I could take a photo. I got a few "No's" but most people were really amenable. I was drawn to this girl like a magnet, and walked back and forward past her stall where she was selling handbags at least a dozen times before I had enough courage to approach her. I have her name and e-mail to send her photo to her.
@s4sayer Thank you so much. Back in our tiny village, there are fewer people but I shall now be on a mission when I go out, to try and start capturing "The Faces of Velddrif" or perhaps "The People of the Port"?
