Went to a funeral today. Yvonne was only just 56 years old and was suddenly struck down by a massive aneurysm in her brain. From a happy laughing woman having a braai (barbeque) with her family one minute, she was dead the next. The cold and grey and misty day seemed perfectly fitting. Afterwards I decided to go to the harbour for a bit, and found these fishing net buoys looking so nice and bright and colourful. Enough to cheer anyone up.
Whilst a sudden death can be a mercy for the individual, the reality is hard, very hard for the family, friends & colleagues. You too, know the pain of such loss. My heart goes out to you.
@anniesue Thank you. Yes it was sudden, and came a shock to the whole community when we learned of it. But for her I can't imagine a better way to go. A brief headache, and suddenly it's all over. For her family though, difficult to come to terms with
@s4sayer Thank you. Yes I know the pain of losing my spouse (and parents), so I totally empathise with her husband, children, and siblings. I am just a friend, so it doesn't really affect me deeply like the loss of my husband has done. I don't mean to be callous, but it is true.
@lynne5477 Thanks so much, Lynne. The joy of digital is that I could take a few shots from different angles, but the view that first attracted me is the final shot I chose.
@narayani Thanks so much Narayani. It certainly was a shock to learn early the following morning what had happened, but as mentioned above I am just a friend, not a member of her family, so I am relatively unaffected except that I feel a little sad.
A sudden and shocking death.
Such a fabulous image.
