Home grown and straight from my garden still with soil that hasn't been washed off yet. I had no idea whether they would grow or not, nor even how to grow potatoes. But I had some potatoes in my veggie drawer with "eyes" on them. So I cut the ends with the eyes off to plant, and cooked and ate the rest of the potatoes. And now I have a reasonably decent little crop from those reject parts.
How wonderful, they look as good as the mediterranean ones fro woolies! I should maybe try that too. Did they need a lot of watering and how long did it take?
@ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana. No harm in trying - you could even put some in between flowers I guess. I honestly don't know how long it took - a couple of months I think but I didn't make a note of when I plonked them in the soil. First green plants grew and I watered them sporadically. When I saw some potatoes popping out of the soil I made little mounds of soil over them. Then the plants died back and I figured now must be the right time to dig down and see what was underneath there.
They look really nice! We used to grow potatoes when the kids were all here. When it was time to harvest I would tell them it was time for a treasure hunt.
