Angulate Tortoise

This fellow had somehow found his way into my garden and I discovered him lying upside down on my lawn this morning. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to train the "hunting instinct" out of Max and Charlie so they are not kind to birds or animals they can catch. So I turned him over gently (was a male as his tummy was sort of hollowed) and with the dogs shut away, waited to see if he would move anywhere on his own or if he was injured. Half an hour later he started walking around, so I put him in a large bucket and carried him to a vacant stand down the road where I am hoping he will be safe. Never know if I am invading another male tortoise's territory, but unfortunately I definitely can't keep him safe in my own property with my dogs around, much as I would love to have the tortoise stay.
What a shame he couldn’t stay. I don’t know what Max would do, but Toots would probably hassle a tortoise - she’s forever chasing lizards.
