I stood on the edge of the quay at the fishing harbour for ages trying to get a decent shot of this seal basking on top of the water, but he seemed to be teasing me. Only when he drifted further away did he face me. Then he would flip over and swim back near keeping one flipper out the water but his head hanging down under the water until he was facing the other way again and only then would he lift his head for brief moments. I was glad I didn't have Max and Charlie with me. Max would have been pulling to get into the water. I don't know if he thinks he can chase the seal like he chases birds when he gets a chance, but I do know the seal would have him for dinner. I once saw a seal "playing" with a tiny dog or cat that he had, throwing it up into the air, then catching it and shaking it around in his mouth. I know it's nature but it upset me too much to watch long enough to identify the little animal properly
