I have never seen a seal on the path along the river before. Not sure who was more surprised - the dogs or me, when this seal suddenly appeared in front of us. Fortunately the dogs seemed to realise the possible danger and just sat very close to me. My stomach does a lurch when I think back - I used to let little Tug and Holly run free along the river because they always came when I called, and both used to go swimming in the edges of the river. I never saw seals back then, and so grateful neither Tug nor Holly was ever taken by a seal. One of the people living along the river's edge said her cat was taken recently. I wonder what has changed that we have so many seals coming up river now?
