Dinghy Sailing

Another photo from tomorrow. No photos today. Spent all morning at the vet with Charlie ... he seemed to be losing weight lately. His harness was becoming too lose on his body. And he seemed to be becoming too weak to do the things he could do with ease such as jumping out of the swimming pool. When he didn't want his supper and had a runny tummy I decided all the symptoms together were not good. Vet said he was very anaemic and stomach distended. She was worried he had a tumour. After x-rays and blood tests we found no tumour but he has Ehrlichia, a tick borne disease that causes severe anaemia. He is on antibiotics for a month, as well as cortisone and I need to take him back first week of Jan for a checkup. If I hadn't caught it now it would not have been treatable.
Wow. Good thing you caught it in time. Here's to a speedy recovery for Charlie.

Ditto what @meotzi Caryn said!

@meotzi @narayani Thank you. Charlie seems to be hungry now at least, but only for soft food. I wonder if perhaps the hard kibble is hurting his gums that are looking so pale with severe anaemia. So I am going to be cooking extra food now as I can't give special food to Charlie and not to Max. Usually I give them a cooked meal at supper and kibble at breakfast but that isn't going to work for a while

@seacreature You could try soaking the kibble in water or meat juice until it's soft. Microwaving it for a few seconds would speed up the process a little.
