Faces of the West Coast

Maybe I can be on track to restarting my #Facesofhtewestcoast project again.

This fishing trawler owner is 3rd of 4th generation born right here in Laaiplek. Plucked up the courage to approach random strangers working on the trawlers down at the harbour. Started chatting to this gentleman - asked if he was from the West Coast and received his history from his great grandfather through the generations to himself ... and what his hopes and plans are, as well as his name, Charl Tredoux. Wow, I didn't expect him to open up to me like that.

Not a great shot with him squinting in the bright sunlight and part of his trawler behind him, but I don't yet have the courage to ask people to model for me, or find a shaded spot in an area where there is no shade to be found...
Wonderful story nice pic!

Good on you Desi for braving it again. There’s no way I could do that. Portraiture is a challenge in our light too.

Pat
I like it, he looks quite natural and well done for stepping out of your comfort zone to get this.
