Taking pride in your work by seanoneill

Taking pride in your work

This morning was painful.

Four new tyres on my car, and now I am £1000 lighter!

While they were being fitted I wandered up to sit in Loughborough Market Place and watch the world go by.

I got several interesting shots, but none more than this. A street cleaner taking such pride in his work that he was using wet wipes to clean his recycling cart. His mate, stood idly by and watched him work.

I take my hat off to the guy, for having the personal pride to make sure his cart is in tip top condition.
Great street candid, love your perspective and the colors are wonderful. Hats off to that guy, if more people took pride in their work like he does, the world would be a much better place. What kind of car do you have? That's a steep bill for tires!

@soboy5 Cheers Danny, I agree with you, the lack of pride in our world accounts for so much. I've got an Audi A6 quattro estate. Never cheap to maintain but boy it's fun to drive whilst being practical for a family like mine.

It's so great to see someone taking pride in their job. Even his boots look squeaky clean. As for your car, one of the best things about hiring cars in Europe is driving vehicles you can only dream of affording back home. We scored an A3 and a 308 in 2010. My little Civic will be 15 in October so it's lovely to dream............

This is a lesson for Generation Y. Taking pride in your work, no matter what job you do. Good on him!

WOW! Those look like new boots! Bummer on the tyres at least it's not a frequent thing to buy!!!

I like this shot, Sean! Great capture. Should be put in employment agencies and every workplace in the world! Take pride in what you do, no matter how small you think it might be :) My tyres cost around $250 a piece when I had to do the 2 front ones a while back. I guess when it's all weighed up it's a small price for what is really between us and the road as far as safety... right?

@asutherland1964 Ain't that the truth!!!

Love this capture. Wish we had more recycling going on in this country.

My tyres were a similar price but only needed two thank goodness...it was the low profile that did it !!!! I love this cleaning guy he is a credit to his job & himself!! His mum taught him good!

Great color combination and perspective. Did they notice you took their picture? I'm always anxious that people will get upset. It's a great moment though.

Great candid street shot. Wow, 1000 pounds (I have no idea where the pound sign is on my keyboard) - that is pricey for 4 tires!
