Ok, I don't do cricket (think I've mentioned that before lol)... in fact, kinda loathe the sport and am sad that it's almost "that" time of the year over here... BOOHOO!! However, that all said.. this is a great shot!!
Great shot Sean. Also not a huge cricket fan. I once went to the Boxing Day test at Melbourne: I looked down for literally 5 seconds, and missed the only wicket of the day. Very frustrating!
@ozziehoffy@stuckinoz haha....Sean, I LOVE cricket. Cass and Janelle don't know what they are missing out on...The ashes is the pinnacle in my opinion, and I look forward to some friendly and good natured banter when the next series rolls around! :-)
@asutherland1964 I agree Andrew, the Ashes are the pinnacle of world cricket, and one of the top 3 or 4 world sporting events IMHO of course. I look forward to the banter, wish it were starting this winter. Hopefully we will play each other in the World T20 later this month.
@ozziehoffy Funny that it was written 50 years ago, and still strikes a chord today. My parents did their level best, with some help from me to do that, but I think I managed to get out reasonably unscathed!!
What a beautiful cricket ground! Well I'll place myself in the 'like cricket' camp. After the disappointing review of Boxing Day cricket given by Janelle @stuckinoz ;-)) I'll give you my story. I grew up in a not-interested-in-cricket family who didn't even own a TV. Despite this, for me summer holidays still equals cricket on the TV even if you're not sitting watching it. But I digress. My in-laws are members of the MCG and years ago they took me to the Boxing Day match. We had perfect seats looking down the pitch and from the first minute I was absolutely riveted. Might have been because I had never been to a live sporting match of any kind, but I couldn't believe how great a test match could be, I mean really, a test match?!!
@tulipgirl I'm very glad to learn how much you love test match cricket Alicia. Of course, the ultimate is The Ashes. I am already counting down to next year! Today, I will be sending in my application for tickets at Trent Bridge for every day of next years Ashes Test. I will give you a wave! Before that though, I am off to Lord's this saturday to see my County play in the 40 over final, sooo excited.
