Today's shot brings together several strands and shots from my project thus far.
You may remember my shot of pigs from the farm a week or two ago and back in the spring.
The pork from these pigs is mostly sold at our local organic farm shop in Long Whatton. Earlier in my project is a shot of Rebecca feeding the lambs at the farm.
My sunday afternoons through the winter are taken up by watching Sam play football, and transporting him to various parts of Leicestershire. His football team featured earlier in my project at the end of last season. Today it was over to Melton Mowbray. Sadly, Sam injured his ankle today when playing very well, and had to sit the rest of the game out. This is a little worrying for me, because he is off on the school trip of a lifetime on thursday, to Beijing and then trekking on the Great Wall of China for 10 days. Not what you want to be doing with a bad ankle. Hopefully he will be ok!
Sunday football matches mark the coming of winter. They are usually watched on cold, often wet miserable days. There is nothing better to look forward to when we get home, than a roast dinner.
So, today, we had a wonderful roast pork dinner when we returned home. The crackling was perfect.
Hope your lad's ankle is fine. I'm taking a group of students on a trekking trip next week!
Nice shot, it looks very tasty, I had roast pork today too!
@rockinrobyn@bazza@hasselhotch Thank you all. Yes, it was delicious. I'm sure Sam's ankle will be fine, but thanks for your good wishes. Where are you off to David?
Oh do hope Sam recovers in time, the very last thing you want to happen...can he stay off school & rest it do you think? You pork looks so delicious & obviously a person who likes his meat well done & tasty, a roast anyway ! I like you scoring! We had lamb today.
@happypat Thanks Pat, I am sure he will be fine. I do like my meat nice and sticky on the outside, because then it will be perfectly cooked in the middle. It was divine!! Rebecca's scoring, nothing to do with me!
@seanoneill I'm going to Morocco, we are trekking for 3 days through the Atlas mountains and then 2 days in the Sahara and I think we have a day at each end in Marrakech
@hasselhotch wow, sounds incredible David. Sam has a similar trek in Jordan this time next year too. A bit different to trips to Stonehenge when I were a lad!! Enjoy, I'm betting on some spectacular shots from you.
@seanoneill I'm in two minds as to whether or not to take my camera, we are camping in the wild so I guess the battery would die quite quickly?
It's true that trips have changed my school only did trips to France and Germany but now I'm a teacher the possibilities are much more varied
Look super yum! Can't say I can remember the last time I ate roast pork. The kitchen help around here is sadly lacking ;-)
What an adventure doing the Great Wall et al. School trips get more exotic every year!
@seanoneill Thanks Sean, yes am looking and commenting still since finishing the first year. Havnt got back into shooting regularly, not quite sure were I am going at the moment.
@jennywren Well, it is still lovely to hear from you. I am currently wrestling with what to do in 70 odd days time, do I continue or not....It is a hell of a commitment, but one that on the whole I have loved as it has made me a far better photographer so I am erring towards continuing and making year 2 a year when I take on some of the things i've never done.
@seanoneill Good luck with year 2. I keep looking at the challenges and really do need to seriously "learn" my camera still, 365 is certainly the place for help. However I know that I have lost the drive for daily shots now I don't have that deadline, also other things creep in that take time too. I loved doing the project and yes it certainly teaches you things and makes you look at the world around you.

@hasselhotch would it plug into a solar charger David?
