The statue of Sir Joshua Reynolds outside the Royal Academy in London.
Born in 1723, he was one of teh foundes of the Royal Academy of Arts and was its first president. He also has a house named after him at my old school!
More Rose Bowl and Berlin shots to follow later in the week, but I wanted to break them up with something completely different, as a certain comedy programme used to say!
That is a very fine sculpture...he looks a very elegant gut & someone has given him a garland, how sweet! Love the strong image against that paler background.
I like the contrast and composition very much. The texture in the tapestry is pleasing too.
Did someone give him a garland so he could join in with the exhibition? I checked his dates and it doesn't look like a birtdhay celebration.
Love the garland round him! perhaps it was some anniversary? They do that to Gainsborough's statue in Sudbury but I have never managed to catch a shot.
