The Crescent in Buxton shot from the park opposite. In the foreground is the roof of the Buxton Pump Rooms complete with a few paint pots! The roof is doing a good job hiding the fencing that is blocking access to The Crescent.
Rebecca and I have decided to spend a night in Buxton to visit the theatre and explore the town more, maybe in the summer. Hopefully The Crescent restoration will be complete and more photgraphic opportunities will open up.
I am back up in Buxton for a business meeting tomorrow, but it will be a fleeting visit as I have too many other things to do tomorrow.
Lovely shot of the Crescent! My friend Rachel Baker is the official photographer for the restoration of the Crescent when it will finally be a five star hotel. They keep putting the work on hold and I am not sure what the completion date is now. It's a fabulous building and some of her shots of the inside are wonderful. The ballroom and the old baths are especially interesting!
@seanoneill I did have the chance last year when I was in Buxton but she was ill with an asthma attack and we had to cancel. You wouldn't be allowed to take any photos inside as she is the only person allowed to photograph the work. She will have a book published at the end of the project and a permanent display in the hotel. Rachel won a competition for this post. The new photos on the fences surrounding the building are hers.
I like that you have included the foreground 'builders mess', Sean.. it undermines the neatness of the composition while giving an indication of what's going on.
