Great Central Railway Railcar by seanoneill

Great Central Railway Railcar

When my nephew was here last week I visited our local heritage railway with him. He is 22 and was so excited to see the steam trains, but I loved seeing and riding on this lovely old diesel railcar, which took me back to my youth! Here it is working up the hill from Rothley towards Swithland for anyone who knows the GCR.
Nice composition

You are but a mere stripling if a diesel car takes you back to your youth; I need steam engines to take me back to mine. :-D
I was born and brought up in Kent, so our railway region was (London and) South Eastern Region. We went straight from steam to electric for passenger trains (the power was picked up from a live rail rather than overhead cables), diesel powered engines were reserved for freight carriage.
Anway, enough of my wittering. This is a fab composition and makes a great b&w with a lovely nostalgic feel to it.

@dulciknit Ah yes, I am. I was 4 when steam trains stopped running. I enjoy them and their majesty, but I'm firmly in the diesel and electric camps. Glad you like the pic. I have some steam pics I will share soon.
