Seattle is cloudy and cool today -- hooray. I drove north to my niece's who lives across the street from Green Lake. I captured these three but I'm not sure what they are...anyone know?
FAV!!!!!!!!!! Starting at the top right on down, they get less and less hair on their heads!! LOL Never heard of a Merganser before, but they sure are cool!! Their heads seem small compared to the rest of their body don't they. Kind of look like a BIG King Fisher in the head and duck on the body!! Did they make any noise? Would be interested to know how they sound. Great details and composition!!!
@seattlite just keep in mind that the pictures you find might not reflect the birds you photographed. Yours are young probably born this past spring. They will change as they grow and in the spring will sport their finest breeding colors. Males are more beautiful then females.
I would call them bad hair day ducks. Comp is great with the three of them on the post looking similar but different so you can see the differences in their faces and bodies. Very cool!
