If my friend's information is correct, this is a variety of dogwood tree with bracts (the white flower-like growth. "A bract is a part of a plant that may resemble a leaf or a petal. Structurally, a bract is most similar to a leaf, but it usually is slightly different from the plant's leaves. Some bracts are green while others are colored. Colored bracts can be quite brightly colored and are often mistaken for petals." Have a great day and thanks for the visit.
Thank you, Gloria! I've seen these around and been completely puzzled by them. They look like dogwood, but the dogwood is all done blooming for the season. Very interesting! And nice shot of them! :)
That's really interesting to know - as I've said many times, the wonderful things you learn about on 365 are another whole education. Beautiful shot to show this.
Beautiful capture! I learned all about bracts when I posted a photo of Bougainvillea...another plant with small flowers surrounded by clusters of brightly colored bracts. I've learned so many interesting things on 365! :-)
Thanks for the inform. beautiful white flowers with the green stamens.
