From what I read recently, the American Robin is not closely related to the European Robin but was named Robin because of its red breast. I came upon this Robin when I was walking through the interior of Lincoln Park last week. He looked very healthy while foraging for food along the walking path. Thanks for stopping by.
Such a lovely capture -- your blackbird looks more like our blackbird with a red breast .. As a small child I had heard and was intrigued that every thing was bigger in America even the robin was bigger in America !! and I had visions of a very big version of our European Robin , It was much later in life , but still a child , I saw in a bird book that the two did not resemble one another that much , except for the red
breast !! Lovely shot -- fav
@beryl - The American Robin is not a true robin. It was named after the European Robin because of its orange breast but, the American Robin is in the thrush family.
