This shot was taken a few days ago during a rainy walk down to Lowman Beach to meet a walking group. Seattle's weather is perfect for growing ferns. I've been planting ferns in an area of my yard where it gets both sun and shade. I've learned over the years that ferns can be quite temperamental even if you plant them in suitable areas :). Splendid! My attempts with donated irises were doomed. Their lateral roots intertwined, overtaking the garden in short order. Drastic circumstances require drastic solutions. After 2 years I dug the whole lot out...am amazed I lived to tell the tale! Sadly, irises have been definitively banned.
