This shot was taken last month at Lincoln Park on a day when the Olympics were peeking through the low clouds. Seattle's weather, since the snow melted, has been rainy, cloudy except for one morning earlier in the week when the sun and blue sky showed appeared but then disappeared within a few hours. Have a great day.
A splendid shot with a beautiful backdrop of mountains. I often wonder how many containers are lost in rough weather when they are stacked high above the deck like that.
I agree with Richard that they look top heavy. BUt what comes to mind most often is some very bad shipwrecks in storms that are linked to Maine by Captains.
@vignouse Richard I retired from the Port of Seattle about 15 years ago. Containers are secured onto container ships with twist locks and lashing rods according to a lashing system. The lashing system is used to calculate the containers' weight and systematic placement of lashing rods to ensure complete container security from the top to bottom of the stacked containers. The containers' secured on the vessel are able to withstand the diffrent movements' of the sea. This website gives an indepth explanation better than mine: https://www.tis-gdv.de/tis_e/containe/sicherung/deck-htm/
