Very good shot; love the clarity in this. As to whether you need a macro lens the answer is definitely YES; you'll start to look at the world with a fresh viewpoint. I've got two (greedy I know!!) - a 50mm and a105mm. The 50mm is great for flowers and the 105mm is also good for flowers but brilliant for insects. The 105 took a little while to get to grips with but it is now my favourite lens.
I'm already looking forward to some terrific macro shots from you!!
