Whitechapel Market - b&w version by shannejw

Whitechapel Market - b&w version

This for the B&W Bookclub week 2 http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/20950/bw-book-club-week-2-feb-3-9 - looking at black and white and colour images of scenes that are traditionally shown in b&w - this is a street candid of a vegetable shop opposite the market stalls on yet another rainy day - I liked the way it captured the raininess and the way it showed the multicultural community in Whitechapel. Black and white version - converted using decomposition to components - and remixing the components in different ways. Colour version here http://365project.org/shannejw/extras/2014-02-06

Thank you for looking and commenting - you're all superstars and I'm madly catching up with your pictures, again.

Love it more in b&w. It becomes so dramatic.

This works really well in black and white. The weather looks rather dismal!

Like the B&W one better think it goes better with the sort of weather we are having lately.

Another great shot, Shanne!! Well done!

Cool shot…the B&W really allows the viewer to see the whole scene versus any bright colors from the green bags, etc.. Great capture!

Nice and crisp - and love that reflection!

wet and wild and love it/cool reflection too:)

Great street shot.

I like the hustle and bustle, and the reflections -- life goes on day to day regardless of weather!

The refection in the rain do make the shot - well done

Loads of action though I keep thinking about what a pain the rain must be for market stall holders!

I agree with Taffy.... if you are a market holder you just have to grin and bear the british weather! Great street candid, love all the different activity going on here.

Love the colour one too but this carries more drama for me. Fav

Asa 'street shot', I prefer the co;our one... but as a piece of reportage, I much prefer this one. Horses for courses...

Great scene, I like both versions.

The b and w really does bring out the reflections

I am enjoying your B&W shots. A good one can say so much without distracting the eye with color.

Good shot.

Cool

Definitely love the B&W version of this one! With this one, I immediately see the rain and the reflections, and the person watching draws my eye into all the other people concentrating. In the color one, there is just so much going on I almost don't see anything! (if that makes sense)

@archaeofrog yes - street candids are almost always better in black and white - they are too cluttered and busy otherwise.

Bargain basement in B&W (; a normal day in GB well documented Shanne

Really great street shot, nobody looking at the camera as they go about their business. fav.

The wet reflective pavement makes this shot for me! Great scene!
February 11th, 2014
Superb street scene especially in b/w. Gives more detail and shows that rainy pavement.
